Hello all,
I work for a steel fabrication company. We are exploring possibilities for reducing time and resources used when estimating jobs for bid. We currently get a set of 2D drawings that (from what I understand) are generated from a 3D model in Revit (or similar, I am sure). We have to go through each page and manually enter each beam/column/etc. in to our steel management software (FabSuite). It is akin to hand-copying a book when you could just use a copy machine - labor intensive for no apparent reason.
Is there a way to export a file from Revit that contains the structural steel information in such a way that it can be imported to FabSuite? We currently don't own a copy of Revit to experiment around, but if there is an established workflow for the above task, it could easily justify buying a number of licenses.
Any thoughts, ideas, or feedback that anyone has is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Best regards,
Michael
