Thanks for the reply.

 

I was attempting to not get too much into the weeds of the entire tool but the data is being loaded from an external file to know which instances it needs to update.  When an item in a group is changed in Revit, it doesn't necessarily mean that all instances of the group will have the same reflected change in the external file.  That is why I was hoping to determine if the newly created groups were the same after the changes were made.  

 

Now, having said that, I'm thinking maybe I need to do more upfront work to determine if the scenario I just described is present.  If it isn't, I can do just as you suggested.  If it is present, I could let the oddball groups become disassociated from the group type.  I need to wrap my head around that a bit.
